Practice and Inspired Artwork

Watercolour and Micron Pen

This black-and-white illustration is a testament to the power of hatching and cross-hatching, using multiple layers and contour lines to create depth and texture. Drawing inspiration from the masterful pen work of Dr Seuss and Maurice Sendak, I set out to explore the boundaries of my imagination. Armed with a set of Micron pens, I aimed to emulate their distinctive style while infusing the piece with my own creative voice.

Each line is a deliberate choice, placed with care to evoke the whimsy and charm of these iconic storytellers. Through the interplay of light and shadow, I sought to capture the essence of their narrative magic, inviting viewers into a world of imagination and discovery. This work stands as both an homage to the timeless artistry of Dr Seuss and Maurice Sendak and a marker of my own artistic growth and exploration.
