Illustration Practice and Inspired Artwork (Watercolour and Micron Pen)

In my most recent artwork, I set out to evoke the timeless charm of Maurice Sendak and Beatrix Potter, drawing inspiration from their classic styles and from whimsical finds on Pinterest. Using a minimalist approach, I chose a subdued colour palette to create a scene filled with both nostalgia and gentle whimsy. Inspired by the simplicity in Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are and the beloved characters of Potter, I used a micron pen to add essential details while keeping the scene’s essence pure. Each precise line carries a whisper of past eras, echoing the innocence and wonder of childhood tales. This piece stands as a tribute to these renowned illustrators, inviting viewers into a realm of quiet enchantment where every stroke holds a story and rekindles the magic of imagination.
